A Singaporean worker is killed as glass doors fall on him

A 53-year-old Singaporean worker who was unloading a cargo of glass doors with two other guys in an Alexandra warehouse died from his injuries when nine glass doors fell on the three of them.


The individual was transferred to National University Hospital along with another injured worker and is presently in stable condition. The third member of the squad was not hurt.


The most recent occurrence is the fourth workplace fatality in 2023.

The Ministry of Manpower (MOM) has directed the company involved to halt all work operations and hire a workplace safety and health auditor to conduct an assessment of the company's work procedures.


According to the announcement, the firm has also been forbidden from employing new migrant employees for three months, and its director is obliged to personally account to MOM for safety failures and accept direct responsibility for rectifications.


According to MOM, the accident happened last Thursday about 2.15pm at the Harbour Link Complex in Alexandra Terrace, when the guys were unloading glass doors from a cargo container.
